Meet Matt Russell, a motorcycle enthusiast you’ll also see riding in his EV
Matt Russell, a forty year-old Fort Collins resident with a wife and eight year old daughter, began looking at the Nissan LEAF as a way of saving some cash. “I’ve driven older Audi Quattro’s for the last 14 years, and was looking to trim expenses in the household budget,” Russell said. “Twenty-two mpg in my Audi translated to filling the tank with premium gas every 6 days or so, at a cost of $280-350 per month, excluding maintenance.”
“How much am I saving now? Easily over $250 per month, allowing us to get through the winter and ease my stress levels. Long term I hope to add a newer motorcycle to the stable, and continue to increase savings for those unforeseen expenses that crop up in life.”
Matt is a certified Yamaha, Polaris, Honda, and Harley-Davidson service technician. So, now that he has put more than 4,000 miles on his LEAF, what’s the verdict from this motorcycle enthusiast?
“The car just works. It powers up, the interior heats up, the radio comes on, you drive to work, the store, school functions, the trout stream, the local trail, etc. LEAF is quiet, smooth, safe, virtually maintenance free, and drives just like any ICE car. It really is wonderful, and doesn’t burn a drop of gas or oil. ”
He also enjoys the convenience and environmental friendliness of owning an EV.
“I love being able to simply plug my car in at the end of the day knowing it will be ready for tomorrow, and laugh as I continue to pass gas stations without stopping,” he said. Matt’s daughter enjoys the LEAF’s quiet and smooth ride, and that it doesn’t pollute the air with “smoke”, her term for air pollution.
Matt is happy to answer questions and talk about how well the Nissan LEAF fits into his life.
