Last year, Drive Electric Northern Colorado successfully achieved the largest electric vehicle (EV) rally in Colorado history! On Saturday, September 17th, 2016, as part of National Drive Electric Week, 83 EVs poured into the First National Bank parking lot in Fort Collins, Colorado and made history.
This was an important milestone for the region as Drive Electric Northern Colorado has been working to turn Northern Colorado into an EV community for more than four years. The goal of the National Drive Electric Week EV Rally was to demonstrate how many EVs are now on the roads in our community, both to continue encouraging EV adoption, and to recognize those community members who are already plugging in.
The event featured EVs from most major manufacturers including BMW, Chevy, Ford, Nissan, Tesla, and Mitsubishi, plus ZeroCycles, Codas and several other models. Owners proudly displayed their vehicles and encouraged people to check them out. One Tesla owner even brought informational posters (shown above left) and a sample Tesla battery to display.
Now, on September 30th we want to beat our old record and have the largest EV rally in Colorado history, two years running! So if you have an EV you love and want to show off to the world, join us in the Mulberry MAX parking lot at 11:30am this Saturday!
We will be meeting in the Mulberry MAX Liquor Store parking lot on September 30th at 11:30am prior to our mass drive. This will give EV owners the chance to mingle, test drive some sleek new electric bikes, grab photos, and more. The purpose of this event is to expand our EV network and showcase the accelerated adoption of EVs northern Colorado has experienced over the past few years. From the Mulberry Max parking lot we will do our mass drive through Old Town.
There will also be giveaways including two free energy audits from Revive Fort Collins, the Greenest Community in Colorado!
